Readers Theatre At Gordon Terrace

Reflection: Today we worked in a grade 3 class and they were starting a new readers theatre. They broke into groups and chose what story they wanted to be apart of. I was apart of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears group with Andrea. I found that our group had some very strong readers, we only had one reader that took a little bit longer to read and learn the lines but after the first 3 run throughs, I could tell they became more confident. We helped our group go through the script and gave them feedback and tips as they practiced. Overall I felt it went very smoothly and our group as excited to present. The only challenges we found was that on presentation day we were missing a kid so we had a new member take over his lines, and we had a friend in our group who was very keen on using silly voices that made it hard to hear the words harder to hear, but after guiding them through why we need to use voices that the audience can hear and understand and that you can still be creative and have fun with it, I felt they did quite well!! Overall, fabulous experience, it was so neat to see the different dynamics, different reading levels and how the students ultimately supported their group members through it! I feel there is truly so much you can do in the classroom using readers theatre, it is such a great method and I hope to maybe try it in my practicum!
